Topic: Need some basic help

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I am not even scratching the surface with this program but need some help: Here's what I want to do and some issues I've had.
I use two decks for live performance - while one song is playing on deck 1 load my next song on deck 2. The problem(s) I am having occasionally lets say for example - is song 1 is 142bpm and song 2 is 85 bpm. Sometimes the slider of deck 2 will match the beat of the previous song by speeding up or slowing down +-. What setting can I use to avoid this?I want to control when I start the next song and just use the space bar with no problem ... When I take a break I would like to use the side list so songs in that view will just play back to back. How is this done.
I am using an external audio interface: I used to use version 7 for breaks and 8 for live however 7 no longer recognizes my external interface. Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks

If you have a pro license, please register it, because home users are not supposed to play in public. For the bpm matching, go to options, check the "show advance options box". Type "bpm" in the box and say no to autobpmmatch. It would be a good idea to read the manual, to get a better understanding of the software. To be able to automix, copy the songs in the sidelist to the automix panel, and hit the automix button.

Wanted to clarify. I'm in a live band. I only use the virtual dj primarily for break music ( that's why I wanted continuous play from side list) I use the mains view to listen to songs we are learning/ and I put the songs we are going to perform in order in the main view as a set list. I sometimes use the sound effects live too.

Therefore you need a Pro license. Break music or not, you're using VDJ professionally.

I guess I can just go back to using my ipod for breaks. no need to spend $200 for break music.

....and for the live performance you mentioned?

I'm a live band not a DJ

You said you use two decks for live performance. I'm just going by what you wrote.

So you perform live, using two decks - but you're not a DJ?

That's right - is this an inquisition? When we rehearse I use two decks to try to practice blending songs together like a dj would. I use a live midi setup and have made mp3 backups of my songs ... tried the virtual on the job but if the songs aren't mixed perfectly they don't sound good..... I have access to every instrument individually through midi and can mix on the fly. I was going to setup my lists on my screen - and use the break music but not for $300.

Oh right. Not a DJ, just "like a DJ".

When you're in a hole, stop digging!

You're using VDJ to play music to people at a venue and you're being paid. Therefore you need a Pro license or a monthly Subscription licence.

The free Home version, the Plus (controller) version and anything other than a Pro licensed version are only for home use.

I won't even try to reply. Thanks for everyone's HELP ... but for the record ... not trying to get away with anything here. I don't need this product and honestly did not realize I would need a pro license for such a limited use. I won't let it leave the house ....

You already got all your questions answered in the first reply.
