Topic: Virtual DJ 7 -> Virtual DJ 8

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello,

I have been using virtual dj 7 for a very long long time and and I am very very happy with it. I finally just installed 8 to take a look at it and got very confused. Is there a way to make Virtual DJ 8 look and run as close to 7 as possible?

What steps would I take?

For example, is there a way to put the side list on the bottom?
If I load a song then put another song on top of it have it go to the side list?

Please see settings/ options and set showHorizontalSidelist to YES
V8 default Skin is not that much away from the old V7 Skin.
Using the old V7 skin might possibly work , but of course ALL new V8 features will not work on an old skin.
Just give it a try. I am sure you get used to it quicker that you expect ...

thank you!

I also tried for about 30 minutes to remove the album from showing up above my searches, how do I do that ? :-)

Anyway to have songs go to the side list like they used to?

It's all in the manual!

You should find that VDJ 7 skins work fine in VDJ 8, with the exception of the four browser tabs (browser/sampler/effects/record) which are no longer used in VDJ 8.

There have been a few VDJ 7 features removed, so depending on what you used in VDJ 7 you may discover you can't do that any more.

you mean the cover flow ?
settings/ options/ coverFlow = NO ;-)
just D&D the tracks from the VDJ Browser to the sidelist ?
is it that what you mean ?

I mean if I put a song to be played but then drag another song on top of it before playing it goes to my side list. Can I do that in 8?

settings/options/ saveUnplayedToSidelist= YES

you the man!

Thank you for your help everyone.

Are there any particular settings you all like that you suggest I turn on/off? I am a little scared right now looking at it and not even sure where to begin.

well, one the most Q`s was to stop sync opposite decks automatically when loading tracks.
For this please set autoBPMMatch and smartPlay to NO in settings/ options

I would also recommend lowering the zeroDB setting to provide some headroom before the limiter kicks in. The limiter can no longer be disabled and it's not particularly kind to the sound.

Good point.
settings/ options/ zeroDB = -3

thank you guys!

What is 8.1? Is that a newer version of 8 coming? Is it in beta only? I do not see it on the download page.
