Since Apple switched over to intel chips, the mac is better argument can no longer be substantiated. So today it doesnt matter, its all about what you want.

Wrong !
The people i know from family or friends dont know a heck about djing, but some might have experienced better sound with mac
because they have done other stuff "than" djing with their machines.
As i stated before, i used to do flightsimulation before, some folks are ready to spend up to 20000 to 30000 $ or more
for a whole cockpit in their living room, some choose to buy MAC but find out how stuck they are when it comes to FPS issues, they also use real engine and environment sounds ( wich is around 40 wav files playing on the same time) that ALSO, requires a good sound card. not only djing. lol.
Last one to tell me about mac is one of my cousins that owns a restaurant and a DJ goes there once in a while
I got to meet the guy and actually the guy had almost never worked with PC, so he can not really compare..
Anyways, dont you think MAC or Apple has become a "fake essential" to anyone . There is so much publicity around it
we see it everywhere, but in in the end the others can do as well ? apple is just a big advertising monster.

Having the sound card take care of mixing sounds is something that pretty much stopped 15 years ago I think. Now all mixing and resampling is done by the software prior to sending it to the sound card, so in terms of sound quality pretty much the only thing that matters is the DAC used. (And one of the best game sound engines could even then handle way over 40 sounds at the same time)

Over the years this has been what I've seen.
Some people who get a Mac just quit using VDJ and switch to SSL/SDJ with Mix Emergency ( I myself am one of those yet Im hoping VDJ can step it up),
Then theres a the guys who get a Mac and BootCamp which is fine because everybody knows VDJ has more to offer on the Windows side.
Now for me if Im doing heavy video work NOTHING beats a Mac!! The problem with VDJ is that it seriously lacks quality FX's and transitions on the Mac side (in my opinion it lacks on both PC and Mac). When compared to other programs VDJ's video output has always been mediocre and I have been saying this for years now, both in public and behind the scenes and Im always getting told to either settle or leave.
But to answer your question I think VDJ is better run on a PC kinda like SSL/SDJ is better run on a Mac.............

I never trust people that drink the same Koolade. At some point in life, you have to think for yourself. Are you telling me that everyone in there drinks Red Bull, has the exact same Pioneer turntable, and Pioneer mixer? I can smell promotion when I see it. Didn't Q-Bert represent some other turntable last year? Michael Jackson got his hair burnt off, and he didn't even drink Pepsi. There is a reason there are more sheep in the world than shepherds.

I have had a PC my whole life (Started off with the 8" Floppy Disks lol) so I know where your coming from with PC vs Mac. However I just bought a used 15" Mid 09 MacBook Pro from EBAY. I didn't have a HDD in it so I bought a 500 gig SSD and 8 gigs or RAM for it. All in I am less then $1000 (CDN) and I have been prepping it. It has a quicker response then my PC but I only use both of them for DJing. I don't ever use them for anything else.
I like the fact that I can change anything I want on the PC but I can't do much with the MAC. What most people started out buying MAC's IMO is the fact that a MAC "Can't" get a virus. This is complete crap as they can but anyone creating a virus makes them to attack the most people possible therefor being PC. Anyone can try and fight with me on this subject but I have seen MAC's get virus' and wipe out the whole HDD. One note I would like to point out is get a second computer. If your going to plan on becoming a Pro you will want to have a back up plan.
The other half is what kind of "Pro" Dj do you want to be?
Club/Festival or do you want to be a mobile DJ doing weddings/corporate event/house parties? I think that's a better question to ask yourself before you worry about what gear you need. Learn first, buy your music, get a simple controller to practice with or vinyl if you really want. I bought turn tables after the fact that I practice on for now but use a controller for the events I do.

It's the old Chevy vs. Ford argument, no matter what, "whatever I run is better".
I am, have always been, and always will be...a PC guy. My dislike for Macs comes from supporting them, or trying to support them in enterprise environments...they don't play nice with other kids. I also never bought into the apple ecosystem, I don't own (and never will) an iPhone, iPad, iPod, iWatch, don't use iTunes... I guess iChoose not to...iDon't :) and I could care less if you do or don't. If someone asks me what I would recommend...It's going to be a well built PC with a fast processor, lots of RAM, plenty of storage, and a decent Graphics Card, and spend the difference in what you would have spent on a Mac on Music!?! After all, that's what it's all about anyway, the Music...everything else is just window dressing (pun intended).

Doesn't matter, they both work fine on all 3 major DJ softwares. Just get what you feel comfortable with between PC and Macs. I use both of them and they both perform well. Just make sure you have enough memory ram (I use 8 gigs on both), a fast hard drive and at least an i3 processor. Make sure to have 2 external hardrives (Much cheaper now) and know the main style of DJing you're doing.
