Topic: Strange "double" track issue

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I've been updating my playlists and decided it was a good point to backup to an external drive; when I chose to backup my cache et al, there were two copies of every song to backup- including those from my VDJ cache and iTunes and even from other sites I've (legally purchased) songs from. My question is twofold: is this "normal"/why? and does this require then 2X the storage space for (really) only one track?
