I wanted to give and update...

We sent the Optima back. The USB on it is ONLY for powering a device, and NOT for a slideshow or images.

Do you use VDJ ?
If so, you should know that the slideshow is a built in feature that can show pictures etc..
And with Tellymedia and Tellyvisuals you could show both pictures and videos.
Just connect the computer (with vdj) to the projector and you are ready to perform.

Do people regularly post here that use something other than VDJ? It is all we use.
There are a few ways to do it via a computer, but good to know of those plugins. If you can eliminate the computer and connection/cable all together though, that is ideal, right? What do you think? Especially if you have to bring another computer to make it happen. A lot of our gigs use video already, and our HDMI port would likely be used. A USB drive is MUCH easier for us.

Tellymedia and Tellyvisuals are accepted plugins for Virtual DJ. They just give you more options. There are free versions in the plugin forum, and if you like the work he does, you can make a donation, and receive all the latest updates. Even in VDJ, you can send an image to a projector to display on a wall, etc.

Sorry if I offended you in any way.

I tried in a way to tell you that you have built in plugins that you can use with tv screens / projectors from your computer with hdmi or vga.
For me it seemed like you did not know how to setup this things and thats why you returned your projector.

I hope that you will find the best thing that works for you.

Hey Fredrik!

Not at all. I re-read my post. I am sorry it came off that way. :( :( I promise it was not how I meant it. Sometimes I am not the wordsmith I want to be when I zip out a quick reply. Thank you for the tips, honestly.

I do know that my post and even my advocating the USB approach will come in handy to the community as well though. When you use USB, it is almost as easy as quplighting. You mount your projector with the image(s) on the USB onto a speaker-stand, plug it in, adjust your image and go. It can be anywhere you can get power. There are many more things you can do with a PC, but most gigs will probably just need an image on the USB and go. If you will display the image on a dance floor, mounting the projector to your light truss would be ideal too.

Thank you all! Feel free to keep the discussion alive.

Chris
