Topic: Denon X1600 LED mapping question

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Another scripting question this lovely afternoon...

Has anyone had success mapping the LEDs under the midi function buttons (specifically the four buttons under the four encoder knobs)? I've tried a few of the common tricks like putting an "LED_" in front of the key name, but so far no luck. It's not urgent, but it would be nice to get them working.

Thanks!

As an X1600 user also I would LOVE to know how to do this.

Yes, I have a definition and mapping file that has the LEDS :)

Sharing is caring! :-)

Any chance of getting them Scott?

Sure, I'll polish them up :)

Friendly bump :)

I know you're probably busy with much more important things but just wondering if you had a chance to look at it?

I've cleaned up the definition and passed it to the hardware team for review and inclusion as natively supported :)

Great news! Thanks Scott.

I will patiently wait for that update! So once that update is pushed through nothing will be required on our end? Plug and play and then if I map buttons etc LED's will work?

Thanks again.

Correct. Shouldn't be very long now at all :)

Hardware dev team is on good form; the X1600 is now natively supported in current controller builds (unsure which, but definitely in builds ending .1004 or later) so just open VDJ and it will silently update the controller database in the background.

There is a default mapping utilising the 4 pages of the MIDI section, and fake mixer actions too.

One more thing to note here.
By default the mixer is configured with mixer order 3-1-2-4 (as we usually do with almost all controllers, regardless the silkscreen)
If you wish to change this e.g. to 1-2-3-4, click on the Mixer Options button (right above the crossfader in the 4 decks default skin) and choose a different one.
If you are using the sound card of the 1600 in your audio configuration, answer Yes to the prompt question to apply the change to the audio setup and "No" if you use a different sound card.

As for the mapping in general, apart from the MIDI pages, everything else is obvious enough.
The MIDI pages are assigned as per this document http://www.virtualdj.com/documents/Denon%20DN-X1600%20-%20VirtualDJ%208%20-%20MIDI%20pages%20Quick%20Operation%20Guide.pdf but i am sure most of you will choose different actions.

Thanks you, thank you! Used new mapper tonight - works beautifully. Can't wait to dig in and do a little customising!

Quick question / possible minor issue -- the mixer is showing up twice on the controllers page. Any idea why that is or if it may present an issue?

I'm guessing you are on a Mac. Its an issue with the X1600 presenting two ports to the OS. We were able to take care of it on Windows but it requires a new feature to do it on the Mac.

If its working then leave it, otherwise you could try setting the second device to ignore.

It will be fixed in a future build.

If you are on Windows, could you please try again with builds ending at .1006 (or higher) ? Thanks

WIn 8.1, build 1005. Not getting another update pushing through. Is there a way to force it?

Edit: Never mind, it just updated to 1009 and all is good. Thanks again for the great work! :-)
