Topic: Numark NS6 Microphone Hum

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi Guys, I bought a Numark NS6 and i have the following problem, i do internet radio broadcast using VDJ 8 pro and i have all the settings configured to use the NS6 and i can hear the music fine on the web with no problem.the problem is when i hook up a microphone to the controller when i speak in to ot i get a Humming like echo that does not go away until i re click apply. even when my gain on the mic or volume are quite low. i can broadcast music and voice fine using a BCD 3000 and VDJ 7 but no voice using the NS6 because of the Hum echo noise. have any one of you guys have experienced this problem? Thanks

There might be a couple of reasons for this.
Likely its not the NS6, but the mic itself or the room you are in.
One reason can be that the mic is not suited for the NS6. Different mics have different resistance and might also be a shielding issue.
If you do have other mics, try see if that fixes it.

hum in music equipment is quite common, and can be hard to pin down the cause. It can be a ground loop (try connect mixer and laptop to different power outlets), it can be static, etc etc

To for example test if its ground loop, try run laptop on battery - if hum goes, its a ground loop issue (electrical noise)
