Topic: VDJ8 doesn't detect my NS7 II

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Just got the NS7//, and while I like Serato DJ's post fader effects, I'm not digging how basic and stripped down it is (you can't even remap the controller FFS). So I installed VDJ8, and while it recognizes the controller's sound card and plays audio through it just fine, nothing but the keyboard shows up when I go to the controller settings.

Am I missing something here? I already installed the drivers for the NS7// so why isn't it working? It works fine in Serato.

Open Config and look at the top of the window. What is the exact number of VirtualDJ build (xxxx.xxx) ?

Do I need to update?

Even if this post is in the PC Forum, i still have to ask you, you are on Windows, right ?

Anyways, things that you can try...
- Completely uninstall VirtualDJ and clean registries as well. Try to re-install VirtualDJ (after rebooting) from the official link here.. http://www.virtualdj.com/download/index.html
- Try a different USB cable and/or port
- Check Device Manager to see if the unit is properly detected and no "Yellow icons" exist there for the unit.
- Clean USBHistory using Oblivion (Google it)
- See if Miditrace or MIDIOX (Google it) see the unit properly

If none of the above help, please post here the content of the Log Report.txt you will find in /Documents/VirtualDJ folder.
To get this file..
- Open VirtualDJ 8, goto Config-/OPTIONS tab and change the CreateMIDILog setting (in Advanced Settings) to Yes.
- Close VirtualDJ, connect the NS7II (if not connected already) and relaunch.
- Close VirtualDJ again and the file should be available now.

Windows 8.1 Pro x64

I rather not since I have VDJ 7.4 installed as well and don't want to risk losing my settings, mappings, and database in that version by screwing with the registry.

Didn't work

No problems. The NS7// shows up under Audio inputs and outputs; Sound, video, and game controllers; and Universal Serial Bus controllers with no errors.

After researching what it does, I rather not.

Shows up in MIDIOX and all functions are detected. This was to be expected since the controller already works fine in Serato DJ and FL Studio.

Here's the log:

For some unknown reason, your unofficial copy of VirtualDJ is creating issues. If you need to test your NS7II and proceed with a purchase of a VirtualDJ license, i would strongly suggest to backup your valuable mapping and database files (the VirtualDJ folder), clean the registries and the USB History and try VirtualDJ 8 from here... http://www.virtualdj.com/download/index.html

I was thinking that might be the case. I wanted to make sure my controller worked before buying Pro.

EDIT: Could having VDJ7 installed alongside VDJ8 be causing problems as well?

Well after clearing USBHistory, backing up and deleting the Virtual DJ folder, and updating to 2245.978 the controller works. It still doens't work in 7.4, but so long as 8 works I'm happy.
