Well VDJ can read Serato cue points and I agree the effects aren't the best (hopefully we get some new ones as it's been awhile since anyone has added new ones) but you can use VST's which Serato can't do.

Not too mention, effects are, more often than not, used to cover up bad blends. Work on mixing, use the effects later on, for flavor.
