Hi is there a way to make sync actually lock onto the correct beat not just the nearest one ie like traktor and djay do. Thanks john

Have you read the manual? Say, right around page 63?

Is it me? I still don't see it. The user wants sync to line up directly with the same beat as the song already playing. I don't see any mention of this. Thanks!
 

Taken from page 13, "Press the Sync button to smoothly synchronize the track of the deck with the opposite deck. It will match the BPM of the track and align the CBG (Computer Beatgrid)" . As you can see the sync has two functions, matching bpm, and aligning beatgrids. I use to match bpms, while I'm in the cue position. If I hit the sync button while I'm in the play mode, I would be in a lot of trouble, because my beat grids are not set correctly.
 

I think the user is seeing that the sync will match the CBG, but not the exact beat in the measure. For example, suppose the song already playing is on beat 2, and we press the sync button for the next song while this new song is cued to the beginning. It will align beat 1 (new song) with beat 2 (old song). I think the original question is to align these both to the same beat.
Although two songs are in sync, they are not both in the same measure.
 

If the playing track is on beat 2 then the DJ has missed the opportunity. Sync cannot magically bring the next track in ahead of when the DJ starts it.

Moral = Learn the basic skills of mixing. Don't rely on the computer to do it. :-)
 

I think that they got used to vdj7 it beat matched way better and aligned the grids way better thabn vdj8 I dont have a problem with this because i can beat match but if you have a controller where the pitch slider is small you need to map knob to beatmatch more precisely I think people shoul not get mad if guys want to use sync thats a feature that the software offers and it should work

Or get smart with the goto script, I love using that, it blags watching djs that I start cueing at places other than a 32 beat

 

well you could adjust -> smartCueQantize to something like 4 or 8 and that might help as long as your beat grid is set up right like what was pointed out on page 63 of the manual :-)

IMO the sync button works exactly like VDJ 7 not sure why people think its not..... anyways good luck.

I actually enjoy his goofiness. I encourage and applaud people that put forth all that time to help people expecting no return. Even going as far to open himself up to the cruelness of Internet trolls. He's still putting himself out there with his funky hats and genuine personal humor.
 

The beat match on vdj 7 did a better job on salsa and texano music if you use for dance music were most of the songs are at same beat you dont feel difference but on vdj8 the job is not accurate as it was on vd7 thats why people complaint about it

I agree with what you're sayin, the placement of the cbg was better in the much older versions of vdj, but that's just the way it is, in ver8 everything has become more complicated and it can't handle salsa with it's syncopated rythm. But there is a workaround, you just need to set the first beat on your songs manually, takes a bit of time but it's worth it in the end!
123,567 ... yes I dance on the 1(and sometimes on the 2 ... but don't tell anyone...lol)

I think they should just make it the same as vdj 7 where you right click the and the box appears and you click copy from other deck. why I don't know. I think majority here want that back. just my opinion. It aligned the cbg perfectly.

Why DJ at all if there is a sync feature...I mean DJ'ing has to be fun when all you have to do is just hit sync

Open the BPM editor, then the button next to the BPM opens a menu with 'Copy from other deck' still there.
