Topic: Gain is limited in virtual dj 8

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm having an issue with my gains in virtual dj 8. I love making mashups, and sometimes an acapella is not available for one of the songs (when you have an acapella it makes it easier to hear when putting over the other song). so when I use the lyrics of one song that is not an acapella, I need to increase the gain of that song so it can be heard a little more than the beat of the other song. in virtual dj 8, every time I increase the gain of the vocal song at +2 or +3, the volume does not increase anymore. I've tried +10 and the volume still stood it's ground. i didnt have this problem in virtual dj 7. I've tried toggling some of the audio options in the configuration settings, but nothing seems to work. what's going on?

If track A needs to be heard above track B, rather than trying to increase track A, trying turning down track B.

:-)

groovindj - I try to avoid doing that. but I guess i'll have to make do

krad - that really stinks. I can work around distortion - why no option for disabling the limiter? :(

Read the link to the thread .... it's all in there!

I also have another issue with my headphones. again in virtual dj7, I believe there was only one or two options to set for the headphones, I cant remember. when I mixed in 7, I was able to hear my cued track that was playing in my headphones nice and clear, even when its master volume was at 0% - this is crucial for me, being that I dj progressive/house. now in virtual dj 8, there are 4 settings - headphones_crossfader, headphones_mix, headphones_slider, and headphones_gain. only the crossfader options works to SOME extent of what I'm looking for. but for songs cued ONLY in the left deck. so again, I want to be able to hear a cued track whose master volume is at 0% but when I can still hear it in my headphones when my knob (numark n4) is turned 100% to the cue option. please advise.
