Topic: VDJ 8 file formats

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

With all the amazing upgrades in this ground up rewrite and all the future thinking innovations of this latest version, I am stunned that the platform records ONLY in two extremes : MP3 - an outdated, compressed math, tin can sounding, obsolete format, and the other extreme : Flac files which, although superior in sonic quality, are not yet supported by most everything on the sound-scape planet. Why on Earth would VDJ 8 not include the ability to support popular WAV file recording? I have gone through so much leg work just trying to keep my files high quality and accessible by having to export to file converting software. I am shocked and dismayed. there has to be a better way.

Wav files are becoming obsolete outside DAW software.
Also waf files don't support tags and they have a 2GB or 4GB size limit (equivalent to 3.4 or 6.8 hours of recording @44.100 16Bit Stereo) depending on the software that reads them. Most software will support wav files up to 2GB.

On the other hand FLAC does not have ANY of the above limitations and is becoming more and more popular. It's a FREE, Open Source, LOSELESS compression algorithm. Much more suitable to handle large recordings in High Quality and support tags!

MP3 outdated and obsolete? Nonsense!

It's the number one format.

The VHS of audio formats. It may not be the best but it's the most widely supported.

even though vdj will play Wav as well,I did so last nite, mostly scratch battle stuff I made a while back.but mp3 nowadays is way better than before...

recording loops as wav would have VST advantages, but eventually the VST makers will catch up.

Exactly...thats why I had this one folder of wavs I had completly forgotten about.glad I found them cause I have a vast collection of the Hamster breaks that i didnt see in you tube and otherwise I'll have dig up out of storage, and with 90-100 degrees heat in my area right now Im not to keen in going to no storage lol..
