what to i have to do in the skin xml to get rid of the gray overlay ?

You should rather post your Q to the Skins forums.
This is part of the png file (graphics), so you will need to unzip the VirtualDj 8.zip , and edit the 2-6 Decks.png with any application that can save back to png format. You should be able to see that graphics area on the top of the pic.
