Yes, there is a known bug on Mac side with transparency and black/white colors. Its been reported, but doubt if the Skin Engine has any priority at this moment.
For now , you will just have to use other colors for such cases.

I just made my letters/numbers grey and they showed up. Just mess with the shade and you should get it.

I've already tried making the text less black. Then I tried making the jogs less white.
Still no joy. How far removed from black/white is necessary? It seems that "slightly" isn't good enough.
