4 deck skin default wave 4 decks

Are the supposed to be as dark as they are? I can just make out the blue (just) red yellow and green are more or less invisible, or is it just me, do I need my eyes testing?

you can put only 2 waves like you want, you must just choose the deck select
4 waves will be hard to view with the same level color

That I am aware of but there seems to be no difference in colour between a deck being active and a deck being not active (on the default 4 wave) and I'm thinking somebody forgot to write a brighter colour for selected deck, (If I put the deck into a loop it makes the wave visible)

Yeah that whole 3d look needs to go, its very hard to see...........

Reason you are seeing it like this is because you have turned off skin hardware acceleration..
There should be no need to do that, runs fine on even my crap backup pc with that turned on...

In VirtualDJ options, set skinDisableHWAccel to no

Nope it's not that, it was set to No in VDJ, any tips on where to look outside VDJ?

* Found out I can't accelerate hardware with the driver I'm using.

I've found what appear to be my hardware acceleration options for
Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family

Is it any of these I need to turn on?

Asynchronous Flip; off
Triple Buffering: Default
Flipping policy; Flip
Depth Buffer bit depth: default
Force S3TC texture compression: off
Force FXT1 texture compression: off
Driver Memory Footprint: Normal
Texture Color Depth; Desktop Color Depth
Anisotropic Filtering: Application control

might be a very weak graphic card you got. . but hopefully not ;)

The fix is just going to Intel Graphic settings panel, and move the slider for 3D preference all the way to right (to "Quality)

Weak gfx card yes, on an old but serviceable laptop, if I go to the 3D properties the options listed above are all I have, I have recently 'flattened' my laptop and since doing so the wave on soundcloud has changed to a blockier style too, were before it was an actual wave,

Part of me thinks there could be a third party driver that I am missing or perhaps my rudimentary setting that I have, were all cranked up when I got this laptop,
I'd rather not crank all the settings up because I don't know what they do/are but I suppose I'll give it a go.

*Cranked them up with no visible effect*
Thing of note the 2 deck skin works fine (it did before changing the settings)

So it looks like the problem is isolated to me, is there anything I can do with the 4 deck skin to make the active waves brighter (I'd rather not use the other style of waves)

i'm afraid not.. they are rendered in high definition..

The alternative is use same waveforms as v7, thats possible, in the new skins.. and in VirtualDJ 8

Ok how would I do that? or is a new skin development page on the way and I'll figure it out from there, (I haven't looked in depth at the new skins xml yet)

I'll fix you one, if you give me a little bit..
Its not much work, will try get sorted asap ;)

A bump,

since I'm on the poverty licence I won't be able to Dl from site unless you just type out the xml edits, you said I could use V7 style waves I'm interested how.

Just replace the 8 style waves with the 7 style waves in the XML. My skin is half 8 and half 7, lmao!! All seems to work fine for me.

literally copy out of V7 skin and paste on to the V8? With a bit of faff with panels etc.

i gave it ago,I'm amazed it loaded but nothing really changed.

Well my skin was made for 7 but I added some things from and used 8's scripting and it all worked, lol!

Oh hell yeah, think backwards, let me see how it looks doing that.

That might be manageable it's still not as clear as V7 was but the important thing is being able to see cue text and cue markers on the wave, and I may be able to crank the colour some more.

Bring on the skin Wiki, looking back at my custom skin made me realise there's so many good things I have to do to V8.
