I've recently changed my name to Knuckles but the Domain Name is bought/for sale for $65,000...which aint happening. Has anyone else experienced this and how did you go about re-naming your site?
I definitely don't want to use other ext like .net. So I was thinking either;
www.knucklesonline.com
or
www.knucklesdetroit.com?
Suggestions, experiences, discuss...

So, you decided to change your name, to the same name, as one of the most iconic house DJs, that just passed away? Wow, what a great idea Good luck.

I learned about Frankie Knuckles after I was googleing Knuckles for social media handles and domain names, coming from a Hip-Hop background I'm not familiar with Frankie Knuckles. Didn't think it was a big enough reason to change mine, especially since it's not the same name. Frankie Knuckles and Knuckles are 2 different names.
I've learned there is also a DJ Knuckles from the Bay Area and a DJ Knucklez from somewhere else idk...but they are different names. Trust me I've been back and forth.

if you don't care about showing up in google searches for your country you can register your url in Djibouti and can have the extension .dj so it would be knuckles.dj... Something to think about.
But I'm with AMAHM.. not a very creative name.

Yep, you needed a change. So, where did knuckles come from, you lost a couple of fingers? Ahaaaaaaahahahaha...........oh wait, you didn't lose any fingers did you? How about DJ True?

Lol. I'm a turntablist style DJ and I wanted something simple and obvious after dealing with Detruence for years, and Knuckles are pretty important for Turntablists. Sometimes i'll scratch for so long my knuckles will actually hurt.
It also sounded way better than;
Detruence
DJYO
Jonny
Jonny Wonder
Jonny Raw
Or anything else I could think of.

I've posted this before but, I'll post it again. The best DJ nicknames come when they are organic. Keep mixing. Someone will pay you a compliment, that will become your name. For example, I was mixing in a club on Chicago's southside, thirty years ago. A DJ i know came running up to the booth and said "Dude! You're tearing 'em up!" Tear 'Em Up Terry was born. Don't try and force a nickname down peoples throats. Let it come to you.

In fact, don't force anything down anybody's throat, she just might bite back.... just sayin; sittin' on the porch thinkin'

Well my plan is to def force Knuckles down everyones throat...maybe even make it a HOUSEhold name ;)

But no one has any opinion on the whole url situation? The reason for the thread...

Like Terry said, let it come naturally. My name is Tim, some of my friends call me T. One night a friend came up during a set and said, "Damn, that's sweet, T". That night "DJ Sweet T" was conceived.
Be prepared, you're going to catch some grief swiping a legends name, especially so close to his passing. It's like #42 in baseball, that one belongs to Jackie Robinson.
As for the url, if someone else owns the domain name you either buy it from them or come up with something else.
I have no suggestions on that except for maybe staying clear of Knuckles.

Maybe you should contact the Beamz guys and ask if you could promote it for them.
