What are you using presently? Presumably you want to upgrade (get a laptop better than your current one) so we need to know where the start line is.

You might want to wait until it is officially released as their is no officially stated release date, might be a year off yet.

Why not?? I've nothing but good things happen with an Nvidia card. You can't just say that and then not back it up, why not??

Dont need a new laptop to run VDJ 8 for sure ;) If it can run v7, it can run v8 ;)
Unless of course time is due to update the lappy anyways, and it already runs v7 sluggishly ;)

Norway good buddy...I have a 2006 Dell 1705 been using v7 XP with...are you saying v8 is coded for XP? Hmm why did I go off buying a mbp and win7? :)

Strange statement - my current gig laptop has a GTX770M, my backup has a GTX560M and my retired laptop has a pair of GTX8800M in SLi. My development machine has a GTX760.
None have ever given me cause for concern...

This statement above, is what comes out of the other end, after the Bull, has finished eating. I have only used NVidia cards, and they all performed, extremely well. As in, no problems, and will only buy NVidia cards. If this thread goes on for any length of time, it will contain more statements like mine.

I have machines with both Nvidia and AMD and never had an issue with either. It's all down to system set up and compatibility in my opinion. Get the right card for the right PC with the right power supply then you should be good!!

I have had NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD chipsets work fine as well. Again, it comes down to system setup.
The above listed Asus has a lot of great features. The filtered cooling design, backlight keyboard, dedicated video ram, anti-glare wide angle screen are a few major ones. It also has both HDMI and VGA ports if you need a little flexibility for external displays. It allows you to specify different versions of Win7 or Win8. Myself I prefer 7 if there is no touch screen.
Maybe a little more insight as to what you would like on the laptop? Do you need internal storage for all of you media, or do you prefer external drives? Is screen size or weight important to you? Are you careful with your gear or do you need a near indestructible Panasonic Toughbook?

The following article compares a different model of Asus then listed above to an Alienware, but it brings up a few points I consider important.
A quieter cooling system, anti-glare screen, better keyboard feedback. It's where you start getting into needs.

There are other manufactures to consider as well, like the Toshiba Qosimio. I have been using their more consumer grade Satillites for years. I recommend them highly, but I have no experience with their gaming laptops.
EDIT: to include URL

I checked the Qosmios way back.found out they had a bigger breakdown history than others.with Alienware you have to get to know how to maintain them.but when they are made to kick %$# on Games then they can handle anything you throw at them..

Sorry, but I did Not ask you if you are going to play Audio or Video with the new one ?
And what kind of computer do you use for now ?
No one seems to be sure about the right or wrong brand here.
And its just your own opinion that matters in the end.
But they havent given you any concrete suggestions of any other laptop (only from blckjck with a Vs against alienware).
In my thoughts Asus wins because...I will copy and paste from vs link:
1.
Display Quality.
The display is another hugely important factor on a multimedia notebook. The ASUS gets the win here for two reasons; the first reason is that it comes standard with a 1080p (1920×1080) resolution; on the Alienware it’s an optional upgrade from the base 900p (1600×900) display. The second reason is that the ASUS’ display has an anti-glare surface; this is much more practical than a reflection-producing glossy display as found on the Alienware. Glossy displays attract the eye on a display shelf but that’s about it.
2.
Cooling System.
The ASUS takes the cake here too; it’s not that the Alienware’s cooling solution isn’t effective but it sure makes a lot more noise than the ASUS. Even under full load the ASUS’ cooling system remains quiet and unobtrusive. The Alienware’s cooling solution can be heard across a small room.

My Sincere apologies for offending NVIDIA owners, I didn't realize that I was the last person on the globe that still has stuttering, out of sync and freezing issues. http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/162460/General_Discussion/Video_issues.html?search=nvidia&page=1
After trying every repair tip that I've read here, optimizing graphic settings, changing settings in Registry editor, the best I can get is either being able to play .vob files smoothly or .mp4 files smoothly, can't do at the same time without changing registry settings.
It just pisses me off that my 10 year old Dell with a ATI card does a better job when I bought the MTI to do video DJing.
Ok back under my rock I go.
