So I have two laptops, bot almos identical spec,
Samsung rv510
15.6
2.1ghz intel core 2 duo 64bit
4gb ddr3
256gpu
Usual basic on board input/outputs
Acer 5536
15.6
2.1ghz athlon x2 64bit
4gb ddr2
512gpu
Usual basic onboard in/outs
Both systems are w7 based
The samsung however is a custom triboot, w7,osx, w8

I always choose full Intel (not the budget ones) for compatibility.
It seems to me that any issues with software or hardware not working are usually down to either AMD chips or entry level Intel like Celeron.

These look like those laptops based on the limited information you gave, the AMD wins in a benchmark. The issue with amd and intel is not all software and hardware companies support AMD, It's not a huge issue though.

I have laptops that have either AMD processors or Intel processors.
Its a win some loose some either way. Usually I have noticed lately that intel chipsets on laptops seem to come with the intel graphics card :( that seems to cause a lot of people problems.
But either way. I can run VDJ with AMD or Intel.. and have never had any issues one way or the other.
If you are planning on VDJing choose the one with the best graphics card that isn't an Intel HD3000 or HD4000 chip set.

Yeah I made that mistake when I purchased my new laptop.
I was trying to find a laptop with VGA out ports 4 3.0 usb and I7
I didn't know much about the HD4000 graphics card and just assumed it was much better than the 3000.. its not really any better than the 3000 at all.
I won't make the same mistake next time. However, I won't be purchasing a "normal consumer" laptop either. I will be getting a decked out Dell Precision M6800 So it is what it is.

you should go for a clevo if you are getting a new computer. You get a generic shell "althought there are a few models available with different features" then you can choose your processor/ram/videocard/screen/harddrive. They are pretty cheap compared to consumer models and if you bought the upgrades in a consumer laptop you would be paying two or three times the price. They are OEM so there are a number of different companies offering them.

Their website is giving me a head ache.. or its that I have been staring at a computer to long.
I need something with at least an e/c slot and I found the dell percision series still has them
