I run 2 NI Audio 10's in my two racks. I've been very happy with them running 4 decks and the sampler to another channel on my analog mixers (A&H S2R and Rane MP-44). Nice sound and more flexibility.

sl4 as it has dual usb's to make transitions between DJ's easier and you will be able to take advantage of Serato DJ if you need to use it for a gig. I don't think traktor will offer you much as it doesn't have video. And hopefully VDJ8 will be compatible with the dual usb's as it's a great feature that will probably become the standard very soon. if it's not supported its no great loss as both soundcards will have the same amount of in's and out's.

+1 for SL4...

Are there internal sound card options. I am going to build a rack mount desktop computer. Im tired of always having to buy a new laptop every few years. I want a desk top that I can switch out parts when needed.

@VooDoo if your going the built in route get something from RME. the trouble with inbuilt soundcards though is a lack of magnetic shielding, and if you want it to run timecodes you will need to get a phono pre-amp unless your turntables are internally grounded. you may aswell just get an existing dj souldcard and build it into your casing.

Given the choice between changing my laptop every 2 years and lugging around a desktop and having to mess about with an external monitor etc, and the when you want to upgrade you have to take the thing to bits and mess about!

I'll choose option 1.

Also, upgrade every 2 years, my last gig lappy was 5 years old.

Yeah I knew the mobility comment was going to come up but I guess I am willing to work a little harder to save a little money. And this desktop will be rack mounted in my skb case so the only extra thing I will have to set up and carry is the multi-touch screen monitor. Hey everyone has their preference and I respect urs.

OK what about the sound quality of the two?? In the djbooth.net review of the Audio10 he said there's not much difference from the 8 to 10. That kinda bummed me out but my Audio8 did sound great when matched with my Ecler mixer. I've never heard an SL4 but I do have an SL3 and it Soundssawesome as well. Do you really think having an extra USB port on the SL4 is worth the extra 400 bucks??

Which ever card a get I'll probably be using timecodes with my 5500's and Ecler NUO4. And I really, really hope we get post fader effects with VDJ one day.

I have both SL3 & SL4. Without using any special instrument to compare but my ears, I could say that the sound quality is the same.

Ok what about an Echo Audiofire 12?? http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/oct05/articles/echoaudiofire.htm

OK heres what I want, I want to use 4 decks with my Denon 5500's then I want a channel for my sampler and then I want 2 channels for fx send/return (in case VDJ ever did get post fader effects, lol).

Or does anybody have any ideas of any cards that could fulfill my needs??

Thanks for the time and info........

Anyone??

The price is right, just above an NI Audio 8 and just under an SL3. I've read the sound quality of the 4's is pristine but haven't really found out anything about the 12. Granted I haven't went in depth but I thought I'd ask here for some real world experience.........

I would suggest any RME or Focusrite card.
Depends on your connectivity and the size of your pocket. MANY variations there, and they sound a few steps above any "DJ" card!
You can't go wrong with them for shure!

Hmm, I don't see any that can cover what I want. Am I missing something???

Well I guess I'll just buy it and see if its gonna work for my needs..........

Thanks for the info.......
