Topic: Mixtrack pro as my start controller

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm going to get a mixtrack pro as my first deck , is that cool, or do you recommend something else?

( I can't spend too much right now)

It's fairly popular. I'd go for cheapest first until you decide whats important to you. Hercules makes some nice ones too. I really like the ns7 and ns7 ii, but they're both pretty pricey. Used gear might be a good option too.

i always recommend turntables first...but this is the age of running before you crawl.

Mmmm its more a financial thing. Most young people cant afford buying decent turntables, mixer and vinyl.

In an age when most music is bought via download, recommending turntables seems odd.

I can understand it from the "learn the ancient traditions first" POV but it's not very practical.

A Mixtrack Pro (2?) is a reasonable choice for a beginner on a budget. It's not ASIO compatible, it doesn't have gain controls or level meters, but it'll get him started.

Xavierrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, just bear in mind that you'll probably want/need to upgrade at some point if/when you get into into it and want to take it seriously. Maybe better to wait and save for something better to start with, that you can keep long term.

just need headphones....
mixtrack pro + headphones is a good entry setup to start learn and mix on ;)

@ Xavierrr. What is Your Budget ?

I use a mixtrack pro an enjoy it. If only I took more time to mix sigh.

I have had a mixtrack pro for a couple of years, its been a great little controller, looks a little plastic, but I have found it durable and works well, all in all a great starter controller
