Topic: External Sound card for Microphone

After decades of Windows PC's, I have now bought an iMac. Everything works perfectly as before except my Headset (or to be precise: the micro). Way too low volume in it. So I guess my external sound card does not support iMac (Creative Soundblaster X-fi Surround 5.1 Pro). Does anybody have a clue or a recommendation for a good external sound card for radio broadcasting that "harmonizes" with iMac's?
