It's pretty much exactly the same.
If everything works as is then don't mess with it.

Disable or change the schedule tasks. There are alot more that XP. Defrag and some processor tests like to run at 12am.

If you are gonna do videos, you have to change the Basic and High contrast theme to "Windows 7 Basic"

What? Where did you hear that story from????

Basic themes disable windows Aero, which caused issues in my system as well.

When Aero is on, GDI is not hardware accelerated. Mostly, this is ok, but for some programs it's a disaster. These programs that have not been tuned for Aero can really slow things down on an otherwise fast machine.
It should not have an impact on video per say. but if you have one of 'those' programs running and redrawing, it can effect everything when Aero is on.
I run with Aero on and no problem but I also have a few programs that demonstrate the problem.
It's not everything with GDI, it's just some GDI functions that cause a real hit, and some programs that use the 'slow' GDI functions.
GDI is that standard graphics interface for Windows that goes way back. Video in VDJ uses DirectX so should be ok but there could be some program you might run that has the problem. It's generally really noticeable.
