So I'm sure this topic will come simple to some, and difficult to others. How do I map controllers? I'd like to know how to map the Numark Orbit to my liking. Thanks!

Simple mappings aren't difficult to achieve, but you need to upgrade to VDJ Pro to have this option http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/How%20do%20I%20change%20the%20skin%20or%20use%20plugins%20in%20VirtualDJ%20LE%20or%20Console%20Edition.html.

Wait, I'd have to have VDJ Pro? The Orbit comes with a mapping software and once I connect it to LE it would work so... Why would I need Pro?

You edited your original post, and added the Orbit. I don't know what is meant by 'mapping software'. Going to have to wait till someone else chimes in that would know what the capabilities you have.

Alright and yes... I do edit at the worst of times. The Numark Orbit comes with a software so that you can map it easily. But I don't know how "easy" it can be when you've never mapped before... Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMT5K_4VZn4

all the numark software will do is change the midi messages the controller sends. You still need VDJ Pro to open the ability to recognize any controller, your current version of VDJ LE will only ever recognize your mixtrack as it reads information from the firmware to know it has the correct controller connected before opening. If you upgrade your LE serial VDJ Pro should only cost $200 with the standard mixtrack.
Once you get pro you would need to create a definition file, it is a simple xml file that will link all the midi information from the leds/buttons/sliders/encoders to names that you will use to map the controller. Using a definition file is the only way you will get the LED's to work properly.

Also you should note that if you get pro, chackl has made a great definition program that can remove the learning curve you may experience with xml if you have never used it before.

Okay thanks! That really helped me understand everything about mapping and MIDI controllers.
