So I have been using free for some time now, having fun with it, did a few live streams. Played a friends party and people loved it. So now I feel I should shell the money for a paid version. I was looking at pro basic, because I am on a budget, and looking at the features broadcast might be just what I should get. However, one thing concerns me: all versions say they have no MIDI controller support. I use a Numark DJ2GO and it works great for me, will be upgrading soon to something like a Gemini First Mix. Will either controllers work with pro basic or broadcaster?

VDJ Pro is the only version that supports controllers, unless the controller is used with the supplied LE Version. It is limited and you are unable to broadcast with that version. With VDJ Pro you can use either the DJ2GO or the Gemini controller. You could even use both at the same time if it were needed.
Hope this made sense to you.

Many years ago, I was in the same boat as you are right now. But, I keep saving $$$ and waited patiently until such time I'm able to get the Pro Full version and now I'm a happy bastard! :D
Oh I forgot to mention, I bought my Hercules RMX with the LE version and I upgraded to Pro with the discounted price ;)
Happy Mixing!

Forget that, I stopped feeding my kids for a week and bought the pro version. Food is highly overrated anyway.

Thx for the advice, decided to upgrade to the Numark Mixtrack instead of the gemini. Still comes with LE, but i get more controls than i currently have. Did not consider the upgrade option, going to look into that now, thanks so much to all of you for being so kind and helpful. so many people tell me to skip VDJ and similar wares and go right for CDJs and be a real pro. I currently have no aspirations to be a club DJ but i love mixing and party people don't know the difference when i mess up so far :)

when you do upgrade to VDJ pro, I believe the Numark Mixtrack gives you more discount than the DJ2Go.

Those people are not paying you for the gigs nor are they controlling the mixes for you. Use what you like and are comfortable using http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Real%20DJ.html

In the words of Flava Flav "Don't believe the hype"... I've held residencies for years (as have a lot of other DJ's here) and have used VDJ without issue or question.
"a real pro" is a statement that defines you as a person, how you conduct yourself whilst working, your ability to read/please the crowd with your skills, conduct your business and general all round etiquette.
"a real pro" is not determined by the equipment you choose to use - although adversely your "pro" status can be heightened by being able to use multiple set ups and by making good use of poor equipment in situations beyond your control!
Cheers,
Roy
