I've got several cue markers set in songs in VirtualDJ, and I know how to loop and then end the loop.
However, one thing I'm really struggling with is getting the auto fade to fade from a playing song to another song and go straight into a loop, is there a way to do this? Or do I really need to be hovering on the keyboard, remembering off the top of my head which number (1/4, 1/8, 1/16) to press to get the proper loop for the song, and then press the proper button when the song gets to the loop point?
Surely a program as sophisticated as VirtualDJ has to have the ability to fade into a song and start looping at a predefined spot?
Or am I completely off base?
TO PUT IT ANOTHER WAY: Is there anyway to set not only the cue points but also the length of the loop, so that it is easy to come into a song and start the loop without getting into trouble because you chose the wrong beat/loop length?

At this point, No. VDJ does not store loops.

OK... I managed to do what I want to by storing a macro. It would just be nice during diner/appetizers to be able to queue up a song with an auto-start loop to do announcements and then go straight into the lyrics.
I'll just play it manually for now, it's better than trying to hit 3 buttons at once to get a cue point, and loop working properly... plus I just discovered I can put comments in the songs (e.g. loop 16) which was the major problem (now... is this loop 16, 8,4 ?)

you can use SBJD's cue macro plugin to send vdj commands when the play head hits a cue point, so if you upgraded to VDJ Pro in theory you could do it now, although you would need to intervene to cancel the loop.
From the VDJ8 teasers atomix showed that you will no longer use cue points, but you will use points of interest that you can attach commands to similar to SBDJ's plugin. You can even use the timeline mode to make your own edit of a song.

Ahhh cool. I had not seen that.
It's not that I can't do it manually, it's just a lot easier to have it ready before hand.

you can do that with SBDJ's plugin, you simply put the vdj script in inverted `apostrophes`
