Topic: Question about loops

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm running VDJ Pro, with time codes (American Audio MXR 14 mixer, tech1200's, serato CV2). My PC laptop specs are Win 7 with 4 GB of RAM. Dont have any problems with anything other than one thing....

If I do a 4 or 8 bar loop at the beginning of a song, when I let go of the vinyl/platter, the song doesnt loop where I started it. Instead, it jumps right back to the beginning of the track. Any ideas on how to make it loop when I let go of the vinyl at the exact spot where I wanted it to start looping?

So you cue your song, hold the record, hit loop, let go and it drops back to the beginning of the track?

Mine doesn't work that way at all. Sounds like fader start is on.

This is what I can't understand:

Surely if you make a loop at the beginning of a track, it will start from the beginning.

Where are you expecting it to start from?

Any chance you're using your TCV in "ABSOLUT" mode ?

Exactly! Except the loop turns off when it jumps back to the beginning of the track. And the mixer doesnt have a fader start feature on it, as far as I can tell.

Example...track has a 16 bar intro beat. I start the loop with a 4 or 8 bar loop before the vocals come in, so its about 10 seconds into the track already. When I let go of the platter, the loop turns off and it goes directly back to the beginning of the track.

Nope...its in smart relative mode.

Not sure if it matters, but I'm completely up to date, at version 7.4 Also, I can loop normally too. So if the track is playing and I just hit the 4 or 8 bar loop, its ok. It only jumps back to the beginning of the track if I'm holding the vinyl (cueing), hit the loop, and then let go.

Ah, right. So when you said the loop was at the beginning, you didn't actually mean the beginning. :-P

Messed with some settings and its still doing it. Doesnt do it though when I use a controller.
