Topic: play a filler video when playing a audio song

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

when doing a video job sometimes I get a request for a song I don't have a video for. how do i play a filler video during a audio song?

Use the clipbank or any of the different plugins like Pangolin, Firetext, or just use the camera plugin and put the crowd dancing up on the screen.
 
You can also drag and drop a video file from the browser to the preview window and associate this video file to the audio file playing in the deck.
But be carefull, If you need temporary solutions, the tips quoted on the post above are the best for you.
 
I use the drag and drop all the time to attach random stuff to audio files. Just be mindful that you have done it. Right click the track to unlink it.
 
It's best done by using the clipbank as mentioned above.

You need to enter Config, then select Video. At the bottom of the screen there's a selection where it says "Use this plugin for audio only files : " In the dropdown menu you can select various plugins to use including clipbank.

Many times I just put a video in one of the other decks and move the video slider to that other deck with the video in it.
 
you can do a lot with the clipbank , camera feed , plug ins , etc

my clipbank runs continuous and i love linking vids with songs

tunes with no video are a great opportunity to get creative

ex: there is a tune by Tom Petty called "Learning to Fly" one of my faves ....

i linked to it an amusing flugtag video from a flugtag event in Camden NJ .....

flugtag apparently is about taking cardboard or other cheap stuff and seeing if you can make your creation fly ......

the video shows one of the entries actually flies about a 100 ft or so....... so it dovetails

perfectly with the song ........

another example Paul McCartney in concert (youtube it) .......he closes out his show with a reprise of "Sgt. Pepper" that seques into

"The End" .....when he sings the final lines "the love you take , is equal to the love you make" on the giant screen the sun dawns

brightly on a new day ....... an awesome example of what i'm talking about , a really cool video linked to a song that didn't

have one .......with the linked vids you can underscore the mood of the song or you could poke fun at it or you could

even create a whole new feel ......those are things that i do

the clipbank dates back to version 5 ? i think i remember DJ in Norway previewing it ? am i right ?

anywhoo if yer just gettin hip to it that's ok but it's time to get busy ......

also filler .....?? no there is no filler .... pork by products are filler we embellish we augment and improve

getting back to my examples , i mentioned poking fun at the song ......i even do that to really great songs....

when i do , i save myself by doing what Larry the Cable Guy does ......" forgive me Lord , and be with the starving pygmies "

so in the Tom Petty song aforementioned , the tune has a kinda heavy topic it's about being a confident free agent in the

big bad world and getting your wings ......so of course i pop that balloon......personally i have to ask for forgiveness constantly

cuz i hear the so called rnb of today and the super heavy metal and just can't resist cutting it down a few notches with my

little commentaries which are what many of the clips in the clipbank are...........

trust me if a request is repetitive or derivative or boring the slinky on the treadmill clip just fits right in ......

or if a love song is a little too sappy bernie washing up in the surf from" Weekend at Bernie's" helps drain out the sap

and etc.......
