Topic: Playlist Question

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered, however I can't find my original post on the topic. I currently use another program that suits my needs, but has virtually NO support. It seems that VDJ will be a great tool for a hobbyist DJ. (I do local pool clubs and parties).

Is it possible to load an entire playlist in VDJ and walk away? I have seen some responses that indicate that it CAN be done, but for the life of me can't figure it out. It has to be something so simple I am missing it.

Thanks in advance!

Dave

Yes it can be done (see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/AUTOMIX.html and it's also in the user manual) but I personally don't understand why a DJ would want to do that.

Surely if you're going to DJ you should be doing it yourself?

You don't need DJ software to play tracks automatically one after the other. You can do that with iTunes, Winamp, Windows Media Player etc.

P.S. apparently LE versions of VDJ don't have playlist ability, but all other versions do.

A friend was hoping to create a long playlist for his wedding using the Automix feature. I don't think using Itunes etc. etc. would be suitable because on a lot of tracks there's just 2 minutes of drums at the start and end of some songs. Does the automix feature allow you to select when you want the next song to come in on top of the one currently playing and does this feature come with the free, basic version of the software? All help appreciated.

Automix feature and Playlists are available in Home Free, Broadcaster, Basic and Pro Full versions.
The Automix feature allows you to select from a list the Automix mode (fade, Smart, Back to back etc). It also allows you (using the Smart Mode) to edit each one of your tracks and define the Entry and Exit points.
Please read our manual Page 22 http://www.virtualdj.com/images/pdf/VirtualDJ%207%20-%20User%20Guide.pdf

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Well to answer your question as to whay a DJ would want to do that.....I DJ as a hobbby. there are sometime where I am doing parties and the like and I am there full time. Other times I am asked to provide music for places like our summer pool club and classic car shows. In those instances I want to be able to load and go. I just want a tool that has the versitility to do either. I realize that I could just plug in an Ipod. I was just looking to see if someone had the experience to do something I obviously overlooked in the manual. This answers "why a dj would want to do that".

We are all not club DJs.
