Hi guys could someone point me in the right direction regarding setting up a mic with a Pioneer Ergo?

I've got the mic plugged into the back of the Ergo with the switch turned to Mic and the volume turned right up but I am getting nothing on my level meters when I test it - do I need to adjust the sound setup in VDJ ? or am I missing something else here?
