Topic: Video rewiring

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Greetings,

Does anyone know of a way to rewire the video output of VDJ? For an example, instead of output to a monitor a virtual video rewiring software would reroute the output and allow software like Akaos GrandVJ to capture and mix video.

This will save the effort of having to go out to an external capture device and then capture it back into GrandVJ.

There are already rewiring solution for audio. I wonder if you know of any rewire solution for video (VTR).

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

OS X or Windows?

I love it when Scott answers with a question... his mind already working on the solution ;-)

He is asking because it is possible on OSX with Syphoon - but atm i don't think that there is a solution for Windows.

Scott is aware of this because he releases a MAC Plugin for Syphoon a week ago ;-)

Any hope for a PC version of this plugin to enable us pc users this feature?

I've searched high and low for a windows alternative and have yet to find one.

The Plugin uses the GPL Framework SYPHON (Mac OSX) - but there is no Software like that for Windows at the moment.

What!!! there are so many more PC users then there are OSX users many times over, I find this hard to believe, Wow.

It is a Third party App - not related in any kind to VDJ but Scott made a plugin for it.

Wow, I got resolume to use with VDJ...I guess I'm stuck ): .....Any hope for the future in this regard?

PS Scott's plugin is only for apple os, Correct?

Yes it's only for OSX. I'll buy that resolume from ya then, lol!!

Been saving my penny's for this for a while now and need that advantage for where it is I want to land my next gig at... you know everything helps...

I'm going to use it one way or a another, but my intent was to use it within/thru VDJ like you can with OSX os, that said it is a good tool to spice up your show and I will dig for a way somehow if it's possible....

Any input on this would be very much appreciated..

Thanks....

I can think of my own reasons for doing this but what are YOUR main reasons for wanting to do this ?

lionhearten mentioned he wanted it to mix videos in GrandVJ.

Just trying to get a handle on your use case for this.

I suspect that you want it because if you can't do something somewhere then you could do elsewhere with such a feature.

I've never used Resolume myself but from what I get from reading around is that it's a pretty badass visual tool. One could route VDJ into it and add more visual effects, overlays, etc, etc.

For me I use VPT for projection mapping so I'd like to send VDJ into that program and control the output using that.

And since we have you here Don are there any plans to have EM or EV ported over to the Mac side?? I recently got a MacBook PRO and those are the plugins I'm missing the most. There's ways around it using things like Quartz Compositions but I'm no programmer so I have to use other people's and their not always the way I'd do things.

Now back to routing, did you have a work around or a plan up your sleeve ;-)

Basically I've seen this program in action and I would love to incorporate the visuals from resolume into a VDJ performance, something similar to a clipbank or sonique or even some transitions if possible, but with alot more creative bang & flow that I know this program can provide....Basically step up my game... while playing Audio files or creating a visual session of sorts combined with music like for an event..

There is a possibility that I will port EM to the mac. More than likely I will not mess with flash in that case. When it will happen god only knows.

I have Resolume and GrandVJ but it has been quite awhile since I used either so I will upgrade them and take a look. Resolume used mostly flash based effects so I don't know if that has changed or what.

Thanks Don, for at least looking into this issue, I don't own an Apple laptop now, so I'm working only from a PC which seems to be a disadvantage for the way I want to use Resolume...

Any word on this is appreciated...

Thanks Don, hopefully sooner then later, lol!!

The technology to do this does exist on Windows, however it is very rarely used. Virtual DJ does not support the mechanism required at this time unfortunately.
