Software choice is a personal thing. Choose what you're comfortable with, not what others tell you to use!
Did you try Traktor? What did you think?
Download trial/demo versions of whatever you can find and see which ones you prefer.

You want my opinion? OK, pay close attention. VDJ and Cue are the same, so why would you buy from a middle man? It's like buying crack from a crack head, instead of the crack dealer. You get the updates instantly from VDJ. So that leaves VDJ, Serato, and Tractor. I never bash other software, I just point out their differences. Serato is a great software, for what it does. You do not pay for the software, just the sound interface. So, if something happens to the interface, you are not playing. Each time they upgrade the interface, you have to pay for that upgrade, which now sells for $899. If you want to do video, that plug in will cost you extra. Go to their forum, to see how they like that plug in. There is another video plug in, that seems to work very well with Serato, but that will cost you almost $200. All and all, a great software, used by many of the "big" named DJs around the world, but just too limited for me. I have tried Tractor, and again, a very great software, but was also very limited, in what it could do. I had a choice, and I chose VDJ. I am only going to list a few of the reasons, or this would take all day. VDJ does audio, video, and karaoke in one package. I am an all video DJ, but also do karaoke, which is also video. I can use any sound card on the market (that includes the Serato interface), and the one on my computer. So, if something happens to my sound card, I have multiple options, and the party goes on. VDJ supports every controller on the market, out of the box. If a new controller comes out, it is only a matter of time, before that controller is also supported. Every upgrade has been free, as in F R E E. I have not had to spend one more dime, for a new version. As a premium member, VDJ has partnered with Grooveshark, so we have access to about 18 million songs. So, if someone ask you for a song, and you don't have it, just type the song in the search field and BOOM, you have the song, right in the software. I have gotten Russian, Arab, Indian, and Serbian music (I work in a gentlemen's club). The Premium membership is $9.99 a month, but is optional. Let me just say that the tips I have gotten, have paid for this membership for years to come, plus some. Last but not least, is this forum. It is the best. Now, some may say we are not friendly, or a little mean. Well, this forum is a representation of the real world. We have members from all walks of life, and all over the world. So that is my take, and I will not go over the other benefits. Try them all out, and make your own decision, because you are the one that has to use the software, not me, and not some "big" named DJ. Oh, I am the biggest DJ that I know.
