Topic: 7.3 crossfader start bug

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Found a weird bug. It seems xfader start responds differently when there is another track playing or not.

Situation no decks playing:

- Cue the deck you wish to xfader start on
- cross over: Deck starts from que point.
- cross back: Deck stops and goes back to que point

Situation other deck playing:

- Cue the deck you wish to xfader start on
- cross over: Deck starts from START song instead of que point
- cross back: Deck stops and goes back to que point

I might be mistaking that this is default behavior, but I've never experienced it like this.

That seems to be the default and normal behavior, yes.
What fader Start/Stops does is that it starts the deck from the Cue point (if exists), but if the deck is already playing it doesnt stop it but continues from where it was.

If you need to play-pause the decks when you use the crossfader, this behavior may be achieved with vdjscript actions.

Nono, the OTHER deck is playing so lets say deck A and deck B is que-ed up and starting with the fader.

The situation was that I wanted to switch very abruptly from playing deck A to a qued point in deck B. I did that before with fader start. So very surprised that deck B kept resetting itself to start.

A different behavior can be achieved though if you disable the FaderStartStops setting from the Registry Tool.
In this case if you enable the FaderStart feature using these actions.. deck 1 fader_stop and deck 2 fader_start, it will not stop the deck when you crossfade from one deck to the other, but it will start the deck if its stopped.

Mmm I think i'm still not making myself clear enough. Nothing was happening to deck A. Either it was playing or not playing.

So..

Without deck A playing:
- xfader from A to B -> B starting at the Cue point

With deck A playing:
- xfader from A to B -> B starting FROM START, NOT at Cue point

And I want B to start at a cue point of course.

I dont think the behavior of Deck B is relative to the status of Deck A.
If Deck B is on Cue point and paused (stopped), then crossfading from Deck A to Deck B, the Deck B will start from the Cue point of course, no matter if deck A is playing or not.
But if the Deck B is not at Cue point it will start from the point it is . This of course will change if you crossfade back to Deck A, as the FaderStartStop feature forces the Deck B to go to the Cue point position

That is what I suppose it would be doing yes... But it doesn't :S even if deck B is paused on a cue point, if deck A is playing it will ignore that and start from start. I was very surprised, have you tried? Can you reproduce this?

I even mapped faderstart to my controller. I'll try to get a movie of it with a skin that shows!

Ok... whatever I do, I just cannot reproduce this anymore :S Soo resting my case.. still... i wasnt crazy... was I?? No you Werent?? really?? Yes we all saw it!! Ok....
