i did a set on an online radio station and was also streaming video of the mixing and setup from a second computer.
i recorded both video and audio but from septate pc's and wanted to combine them together.
the video file did have audio but this was recorded from a webcam mike so was not of good standard.
i setup my vms4 on my laptop with the mapper and sound settings so the laptop was handling the sound not the vms4's analog
mixer. i also followed a member's guide on here and installed ffdshow according to the guide for both sound recording
and video recording in the vdj settings.
all seemed to go great. i loaded the video onto deck 2 and the audio to deck 1 both were just over 60 mins so i set
vdj to load bigger files. 95% of the waveform loaded on both and i was able to align both files to start together perfectly.
so i started to record with the audio from the video file being killed and all seemed fine. the video file was running slightly out
from the audio so i used the jog wheel to fine adjust when it started to drift away from the audio as i could follow the waveform
from both files.
thought it worked fine but on playback i found that the combined file was out of whack...
the video lasted 1hr 4 mins in length witch is the correct lengh but the audio was running fast and lasted 35 mins
any ideas what might me the cause? please

If you want to combine audio & video in a single file you should use another program to do the job much more efficiently.
I don't know what went wrong, but VDJ certainly is not designed for this kind of task.
Programs like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere would have been far better for the job.

Can you be more specific on how you recorded the audio file ? Using Recordloopback and VirtualDJ or Audacity and your laptop's input ? What was the selected file format in case you used Audacity or similar external application ?

i would do but the audio and the video were recorded with different programs and i have no experience with editing
in theory i cant see any reason why vdj cant be used this way as im sure others use both audio and video when mixing

the audio was recorded with simplecast as an mp3 file @160kbps
and the video was recorded with webcam max as a Movie Clip (.mpg) file
as i say i used this mapper for the vms4: American Audio VMS4 with PC or other soundcard 1
and set up vdj for recording video. during the mixing of audio and video everything went fine,
id did a few adjustments with the vms4 jog wheel on the deck playing the video file just to keep the video in line with
the audio. but for some reason it saved the audio of the recording at a faster speed than the video

no ideas anyone???
would be curious to know what vdj is failing to handle
the audio
the video
or the recording of both together????

Usually that's due to wrong recording/encoding settings.
For instance if you record an audio sample with 48000 sample rate and try to play it back as a standard 44100 file the audio will be longer with lower speed.
Also if you record something at 22050KHz and try to play it back at 44100 it will be playing in the double speed resulting half playback time.
PS: You are saying that the audio plays faster. Correct? You didn't end up with a file that's MISSING audio? Correct?
If so, please check your encoder settings, and mostly important the sample rate of the recording.

thanks for your help
this is the blog i used to setup vdj to mix the audio and video together:
http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Recording%20Video%20HowTo.html
as said before im not great with recording and editing. so im thinking of ways to record both together from the start.
maybee using my usb soundcard on the laptop and feeding the booth output of the vms4 to the laptop that
is running webcam max to record both with that.
its just a guess but if i use my normal setup with the vms4 mapper by djdad i wont be able to record the video/audio
on vjd as the vms4 has an analoge mixer?
would be nice to know why this didnt work just for reference and see what im doing wrong to understand vdj better...

Very strange, I thought I had an idea but then I re-read your post and realised I didn't!!

gets even stranger....
when i first played the combined output that i had recorded i scanned it quickly to make sure it was ok all the way threw.
so i played the start then skiped to the middle then the end where i noticed the lack in audio.
so i scanned back till i found the end of the audio at about 35 mins on the video player clock.
so i assumed the audio played fast and ran out at 35 mins but the video looked like it ran to the end of the clock.
after looking at it again today more closely that audio is playing fine and at correct speed as far as my ears can tell.
but the video is running slow and goes way way past 1hr 4 mins....
this means that the clock on the player is not showing the correct time
iv tried the file with a few diffrent players all with the same result
