I want to use virtual dj for our rent company for karaoke but the files must be encrypted. Is this possible in version 8?

I don't know for version 8 but currently you can't encrypt your files.
Besides that I believe that you can't use VirtualDJ for a rent system (at least not without a special permission if such a permission exists) and I'm pretty sure you can't rent your media files either...

As above:

The EULA doesn't permit you to rent the software I'm afraid. I'm not sure the copyright holders would be over the moon either.

Why dont u just encrypt the drive the music is on?......Windows 7 offers a great built in encryption tool called bitlocker. If the drive is stolen it is then virtually useless save a very costly retrieval of the data. (not worth just buying the music to start with)

Even with bitlocker you can copy files from the encrypted drive to another one and the OS will decrypt them on the fly as soon as you are logged on. So it's kind of pointless if you want to prevent a fellow dj from stealing them...

Also go to Computer Management > Services and disable the removable storage service. You would have to keep the music on the computer's hard drive. It would be best to use some sort of encryption (non preboot authentication). You shouldn't be able to copy any files to an external drive.

IMO the rental / resale part of the EULA just sucks.

thanks,
David

And even then just use a plain blank CD or DVD to copy the files :-P
Or maybe setup an AD-HOC Wi-Fi connection and send them wireless on a netbook.
Or perharps send them via bluetooth on your tablet... :-P

As you can see it's almost impossible to prevent files to be copied from an OS that's up and running with a user logged on!

PS: The whole EULA thing has been discussed for the last time about a month ago. Perhaps you should find the thread and read it. It has some very nice opinions and points of view.
