Topic: Why a controller..? - Page: 2

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

I did check my spam, regrettably not there.

However, I have found I stored it on my iphone, conveniently, just in case.

Now when I try to modify my profile, it says the serial number is not valid. :(

Just type anything in the box and enter, it will then give you the option to raise a ticket and one of the Customer Support guys will help you. Please provide the email address you used when purchasing the software.

1. How can you not have time something that's made to make things easier(Controller) ?
2. How can something that'a made to make things easier(Controller) get in the way with what your are doing?

Seriously just how on earth are you guys working? Sounds like you are DJ bartender and door man at the club :D

True . . .

Use whatever you feel most comfortable with. I started out on turntables . . . moved to cd players . . . moved to computer & controller . . . Somewhere along the way I started missing actually using turntables, but I still wanted the ability to control the features of the software, so I bought a pair of Denon 3700s. They made me miss the feel of a real turntable and a 12'', so I bought a pair of Stantons recently, but they will likely never leave the house. I still use a controller (Denon MC6000) in the club 99.5% of the time. Works for me, and frankly I could give 2 dead flies what other DJs think about it. The people in the crowd definitely don't care what you use, as long as you play good music. It will be funny to hear guys that started out on controllers regurgitate the same line of crap about "point and click" djs that vinyl purists spit out at "laptop" djs.

Well, being the Wild West the tech is only about 140 years out of date :)

Exactly, if you're playing "non dance music" and don't need pinpoint accuracy then a mouse is every bit as functional. Served me well for a long time before controllers came on the go!

I had a Dac 2 in 1999 when I first went digital, it was the natural progression from dual CD players. Those that used a mouse or rely on the automix playlist to do it all for them are the same DJ's that used to play mix CD's and medleys all night.

I knew people wouldn't understand some of the confessions made, my advice is to not to even try to understand it and just keep DJing the way your doing it and promote yourself with videos to set yourself apart, otherwise you might get tarred with the same brush.
 
Its been genuinely fascinating listening (reading?) your thoughts of mixing through the ages.

Additionally, I'd like to say thank you, too - the support guys have sorted my key code, its in, and I'm a happy bunny. Feels good to be part of a community...

So... Windows, or iOS...? ;)
 
Say what you want but all I know is chicks dig guys on the ones and two's... guy with a mouse, not so much.

This^^ and I'm not talking about a controller either........theres something about a 1200 that gets um.........well you can see where im going with this, lmmfao!!

how do i do it? quite well. and i've been there since the late 90's

mickey - learn both, decide for yourself. like dj ho said use whats best for you.

chuck - that popcorn better not have butter on it - your cholesterol is already a little high.

easier.. faster.. hmm... my serato fanboy with the fancy schmancy controller raced me: i had a song loaded, cued, and pitch and bpm matched before he could even get one loaded.
 
wild i did take exception to some of those remarks, but i know you don't need

i thought wild was very easy going in his replies actually .... proving it true, what i often say, that he simply

does NOT have the personality of a lemon-taster ......this is categorically untrue ......

and i'd like to add that only rarely does he staple earthworms to the ground, in order to give the birds a hernia ......
 
there's kinda a scale or spectrum of controllers and there users ......

the point and clickers .....you don't wanna hang with them .....total posers

next there are the wannabe's , with there cheap and medium priced controllers and well, they

still don't quite get it ......you could probably pretend to know some of them and it wouldn't be

that bad .....

next are the turntablists and expensive controllers ..... this elite class has climbed the mountain, and

sometimes they cast a downward glance our way ......

i mentioned the snobbery associated with controllers, i cited three different types of users,

and i succeeded in insulting all of them equally you wimps ..........


ok look.....us sneering at each other , or making these very arbitrary judgements about strangers is

not cool , this is what i believe

there are many ways to DJ , especially with this software ..... one guys/gals talent isn't diminished

by the fact that it's different from yours.....absolutes are hard to come by ........?

Seriously considering a controller now, but only because its a funky looking piece of kit to stick on the desk, and don't want to spend a fortune, as its only ever going to a hobby rather than a profession. Before I do, tho. How much configuring does it need? Does it just plug and play, given its USB? And whats all this business about time codes? Is that how the software interprets what the controller is telling the software what to do, as far as the jog dials and speed controls are concerned?
