So at VDJC2 tweet to screen seemed to be the hot new thing people were chatting about. I had a buddy fly back to Denver and incorporate it in his show the very next day and it was a hit (he uses serato and mix emergency).

Now I swear a guy from Virtual DJ stood up in the conference and said "We've got tweet to screen too!"

I've been looking over the site and can only find the FireText plugin. Is spending a grand on that program and switching to windows my only option?

Yes, we actually demoed that plugin at the VDJC2, in Vegas. Tweet to screen, and the two text to screen plugins are two different animals. With the plugins from Firetext and Pangolin, you have control over what actually hits the screen. There are filters available to screen offensive words and phrases. You don't want " this DJ sucks " or " I pucked his mother " to make it to the screen do you? With text to screen, you can prevent that. At the moment, tweet to screen would let that through. We are trying to change that. Don't know if we can, but I would not use any plugin that I cannot control.
 
 
Youll be happy to know then Rick that I've added a specific word replacement filter - for each blacklisted word you can individually choose to * it out, or replace with another word.

I haven't yet released it - the guys were demoing it in Vegas as its first public outing, but you'll be happy to know that there will both versions for both platforms :-)
 
That makes sense. I would imagine being able to filter tweets would involve implementing some sort of database to save the tweets and then check which ones you would like to display.

I'll be patiently waiting for either someone to pay me more so I can buy the firetext plugin (if they make a mac version) or wait for your plugin.
 
You can set it so that you either approve each tweet or it auto approves. On top of that you have an automatic word filter to check for swearing, changing sucks to rocks etc...

I'd be interested in a progress update too. My buddy just updated his tweet to screen for serato to have a Facebook to screen capability too. My buddies that use serato are beginning to make me feel left behind with all their fancy video capabilities.
 
 
Not that expect to get everything for free.. I know the Firetext VDJ plugin is free but you have to pay for the Firetext Pro version to get the Firetext program to capture the tweets. Am I missing something?

Yes you are, lol, tweet to screen is available in the free 1000sms plugin, go to link above, follow instructions and get your free sms plugin with tweet capability... this offer is only available to pro users at the present time.
