Topic: Samples sound quieter

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have found that samples seem to play back quieter than the actual volune of the player that is currently active is this right?

There are volume controls for each samples. Are you using a controller?

same here, even on full volume the samples are always to quiet. Could really do with autogain for samples.

I've just had a play, and the issue seems to be that when you sample/record a loop from a track, and the gain control of that track on the VDJ mixer is higher than 50%, then the sample gets recorded at a lower level (sounds like the 50% level).

When you play back the recorded sample, even with the sample volume right up, it's not as loud as the source track (if the source track gain control is past 50%).

I didn't do an exact check through a mixer with accurate meters, and there's no metering for the samples, but it sounds as if the samples only play at a maximum volume equivalent to 50% gain on the main VDJ mixer channels.

The only fix I could find for this is to use an external mixer and a multi channel soundcard. Then you can route the sampler to it's own channel. Yes I know not everyone has an external mixer but I've never been able to find a fix when using a controller. Hopefully when 8 drops they'll have this issue sorted out. ;-)
