The more logical thing to do would be to use VDJ for karaoke nights and use Serato for audio/video nights.

If your hell bent on using both programs.

This may be my answer Charlie!
And yes I have not used VDJ extensively which I will be doing in the forthcoming weeks.
I have indeed used Serato a few times (as it came with the NS6)
This is why I purchased VDJ as it gives me more options.
None of my questions were daft or strange, I've just moved over to DJ software after using Numark librarian for many years.
Only time will tell as to my 'first choice' and using them both will give me valued experience with them.
Thanks for the advice chaps, much appreciated

Tell us what it is about the Itch crates that you like.

VDJ has "crates" too you know......Virtual Folders and Filter Folders.

If you read up on what they do, I think you'll find the functionality pretty similar.

What is that certain criteria you want to do with the softwares???? VDJ alone will do the job for you nothing more. Remember that software is only a tools in DJing and still everything you want to do with it... still comes from you and that is where skills are important because softwares will not work alone without you.

After all the fun and chat, VDJ does not list my NS6 in the Config!!??
Looks like a call to Numark on Monday?
All software loaded and drivers but no NS6 to choose from for sound output?
Any clues?

You can download the NS6 mapper in the downloads/controllers section.

Still does not answer my question as to why the need to run both at the same time...but I would stick with VDJ, and the hell with serato.

You never would, but he is asking about compatability. It may be obvious to you, but not everyone...

In Configs use asio soundcard, Ns6, tick low latency. There is a setup guide/thread on the forum, it works natively with VDJ I have one. :)

I beg your pardon???

Hey guys, I have taken all of your views and advice on board..... but here is the outcome
Serato itch is on my Mac and works perfect (even though Apple suggest that Mountain Lion will not support it as yet) crazy but it works.
Have downloaded and installed VDJ Pro but I have major issues? At first VDJ did not recognise my NS6 very well and after VDJ sup[port playing with my mac this morning it seemed to start to work. The problems are just beginning...... When you load VDJ and load a track no controls work from the NS6 or the computer. You have to go into config and select apply on the sound set up then the controller bursts into life and starts playing... My second issue is as follows:
When you select load A with Layer A selected, the actual track loads to Deck 3 (Layer 3) So the controller is working in reverse which is crazy.
So for me to fall in love with this software, like some of your fellow DJ's I need it to work properly first...?
Any help to support me with this crazy software?? cheers

Well I went into Config and performances (Could not see an asio sound card) and selected the lowest latency (64 (1ms) ) and this seems to have fixed the above problem...? What is latency and why is the lower selection working and the Auto does not? thanks

Well not long after I posted my last post the problem is now back. VDJ does not like 4 decks..
My NS6 will
Only load tracks on opposite decks . Select deck 1 and track goes below to deck 3 and the same with decks 2 and 4?!!
Is it just me rf is this a common feature with VDJ Pro?

Are you running the Mac version of VDJ or the windows version? Honestly I dont have a Mac but it runs fine for me on a Windows platform (W7 or XP). If you have a Mac did you consider boot camping it, there are a lot more plugins/effects for the PC version.

I do not know if you have downloaded the latest version of Itch - but if you have not, then you need to download it and run it to get the latest firmware upgrade to the unit. Unfortunately that is the agreement Numark has with Serato for getting firmware updates. So, make sure you have the latest firmware installed.

That was my way of saying drop it. You can't do it and you wouldn't want to do it for multiple decks.

Boot camping is running a Windows OS on your Mac, from my understanding you can have like a dual boot config. You can boot into Mac OS or Windows OS. You can google it to find out how to set it up.

Yes you can do it and it works very well. Have been running VDJ under windows on a macbook for last 2 years.
