Topic: Best way to Record using Line-In

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi,

I've got VDJ setup with an external mixer and 4.1 sound card - just wondering what the best way to record using the line-in on the sound card would be, any recommended software etc?

Thanks

Tom

What I did to record this way was to buy a RCA to 3mm cable, it goes from the Booth(output) (or any outputs for that matter) on my mixer to the LineIn on the computer soundcard. Software of my choice is Audacity which can export to many different formats.

In Audacity instead of recording the MicInput you choose the LineIn, works like a charm.

EDIT: If you want to use VDJ's record function, you can do so but needs some configuration. What cable do you need? Ether a RCA cable that goes from Output to Input on your mixer, or once again a RCA to 3mm cable. Then in virtualdj audio settings, choose advanced mode to setup your audiosettings. When everything has been setup correctly, add a "Record Loopback" to record audio from your input.

Perfect - thanks!
