How do I get the sound to only come out of the headphones only and not the speakers on my numark n4 with VirtualDJ Pro 7. Thanks.

Depends on how you set it up really, if you use N4's audiointerface, speakers plugged into the RCA master output (on the m4) and headphones plugged in to the headphone-output, just turn down the faders, make sure headphones are set on cue mode.

Again, depends on how you set it up and what u using it for, give me some more information and I can answer it better.

Trying to cue my music without the people hearing it over the speakers. I'm very new to all this so please be patient with me thanks.

I have the Numark N4. I guess it doesn't have it own sound card that won't allow me to listen to music to cue it up.

I'm running on a laptop. Would a 5.1 external sound card like this work:

Or perhaps I need to go with a 7.1?

I see the recommended card is the Numark DJ IO

http://www.numark.com/product/djio

If that will work for what I want, I will get it. Please confirm!

Thanks again for your help!

For separate master + headphones output, the Numark DJIO will meet your requirements. Unlike a 7.1 card, it's also designed specifically for DJ use.

If you also need inputs (E.g: To run timecodes) now or in the future, then Hercules DJ Trim would be a better choice.
