I'm thinking of getting the EV ZXA series speakers. Wonder how they would sound coupled with my qsc set?

I'm looking at the tops and subs. I already have kw181's and elx 115p's.

Two kw181's with two EV elx115p's along with the EV ZXA tops and subs.

What do you think?

i use the EV SB22 with the EV ZX1. not the active ones but they sound really good. clear sound with good bass and nice highs. use for weddings and school parties and is plenty loud enough. so should sound really good with your current sound system,

The ZX series are a funny shape and only have one handle and for that reason I wouldn't bother with them.

These speakers don't know if the front of house of stage monitors! Can't be doing.

1. what has the shape got to do with anything
2. they sound really good at 200w and when i run them at 400w 40hm with the sb122's they dont have any trouble at all.no distortion what so ever.

By them been a wedge monitor as well as a full range cab they have sacrificed volume, the cubic capacity of the cab is important.

Also it's a nightmare having covers made for cabs like that.

fair enough. we have got covers for the zx1 which are ev ones and i diddnt think the sound was bad from them.weve done parties for about 50-100 people with just the zx1's and it was plenty and that was only on 200w. the bass from the speakers is really good and they were up in the air.

Been using the [powered] ZXA-1 tops coupled 2 ZXA1 subs [powered]
They kick for my needs. Just did an outside party with them.
Only used the tops with 1 sub. People were saying how good
the sound was.

are the ZXA1-Sub really 700w

The tops are rated at 800w and the subs at 700w.

If you have any chance to use full-range speakers by themselves, I would go with either DXR8 or K8. ZXA1 is a nice sounding speaker, but it just can not produce enough low end at high volume. I listened to all DXR8, K8 and ZXA1, and DXR8 is the best sounding speaker among the three. It kept up very well at high volume.

i see. it's the peak output, i was going to say. i know the zx1 are 200w rms so the subs must be about 150-200w rms.
