Of course the VirtualDJ website is secure, providing that you have set a strong password that cannot be easily guessed by somebody else (This also applies to most other websites where logins/passwords are used. Never use the same password for two or more different sites.)
You can change your password and/or register your serial number by going to your profile page: http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html
You will need to register your serial to be able to download future version updates as well as optional add-ons such as skins, effects, etc.: http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/index.html (Depending on which version of the software you have purchased.)
