Wassup VDJ crew,
I mix mainly hip hop (from the old to the new) and for my transitions, i tend to drop tune 2 in on the chorus of tune 1 matching the 8 beats and then tend to use one of the following effects to take tune 1 out before the verse of tune 1 kicks in:
- Flanged Loop Out
- Long brake
- Backspin
Does anyone use any other effects that work well to end a transition?? I think most of the other VDJ effects e.g. Flanger are more aimed at dance music so trying to find more of these 'hip-hop' effects to make my mixes a bit more varied...
Would really appreciate any ideas folks?!

You could try a modified beatgrid (just play around with it in the effects section) or just a straight cut seems to work quite well too.
I am not much of a hip hop guy though, hopefully someone with a little more experience in this area could help...

Why not just mix out some tracks normally? Overusing fx isn't good.

Good old standard intro /outro beat mixing is by far more pleasant to listen to than any effects. Most hip hop songs have remixes with extended intros and outros already done. It's just a matter of beat matching and mixing those tracks and your crowd will be much happier I'm sure.

i beg to differ.... although there is nothin wrong with your typical intro outro mix/blend...... im sorry but to me that gets boring real fast even if the songs are good.... i like sets with huge energy fast transtions and with a variety of them... use of effects can give your mix a nice flair to them. of course effects need to be use tastefully here and there... other wise i hate over use of effects....
