Why doesnt the cross fading match up on the recording with what happens live?

simple answer is that the vms2 and vms4 are analog mixers and the mixer itself dose everything. what you see on your monitor
is just a representation of what the mixer is doing. for instance if you turn the mixer on and the channel faders are down
but what you see on screen is there in the up position as it defaults to, the sound will be infact of because the real position
is what is on the mixer not the screen.
so all sound produced by the mixer is fed out from the master out on the back of the mixer and not back up the usb lead
to the pc. to do this it would need to digitize the music again. but being an analog mixer it dosent do that.
best option is feed the master output from the mixer back to the pc threw the line in or mic input if ur on a laptop
and record with audacity
