Topic: Hooking up a turntable with midi controller?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey all, my beginner set up is a numark midi controller, a numark soundcard and a macbook. Because the midi controller isnt meant for scratching, I am curious if I can add a piece that's meant for scratching? The only thing I could think of is a single turntable with the controller? But then I don't know how I could stream that turntable through VDJ. Any advice is greatly appreciated...thank you!

Which Numark controller do you have?

Numark total control

You will need a soundcard with at least one stereo input and two stereo outputs in order to use the turntable for timecode vinyl.
Better yet you should buy a soundcard with two stereo inputs and two stereo outputs and low latency drivers (ASIO) suitable for timecode usage such as Maya44 USB or NI Audio 6
Also you will need a timecode vinyl and VirtualDj PRO Full in order to make all of them work together.

damn! it'd be in my better interest to buy a better controller or something i can scratch on? because i cant see myself spending $200 or 300 on virtual dj pro. what type of controller or turntables can i control the music with and scratch on?

Mixdeck works well... platters are actually big enough, other controllers have very small platters very awkward to scratch on...

comon buddy give it a shot it worth buyin it i have planed to buy DDJ ERGO in couple of months recently i bought my laptop next is controller
and so on
