Hello all, I am interested in purchasing VDJ Pro for video use. I downloaded the free version to test it out and found the search engine to be limited.
For example if I type Keys, I get 94 files. After I type Keys and then press the space bar, it goes down to 24 files. After I type Keys and then press space bar and type Alicia I get no files. Now if I type Alicia first, I get 84 files. If I press the space bar after Alicia, I still have 84 files. If I type Alicia then press space bar, then type Keys I get 24 files.

I have over 50 songs by Alicia Keys and depending on how I type it depends my outcome. I use Traktor Pro 2 for Gigs without video and I can type any part of the song, title, genre, etc. and all the songs with the words I typed come out. Is this possible with VDJ Pro?

The search engine searches textparts so if you type "Keys Alicia" then you need to have a song with this in it's title or artist.

As i would think you have "Alicia Keys" in your files so try this and it should work.

Also you can try to search for <artist>*<title>

Example:
Alicia*Empire

the * in between words can sometimes be useful, but the truth is, it's a bit "90s" that part of virtual dj.

But it still gets the job done, it just takes a little bit of getting used to the quirks. :)
 
Yes I would agree, the VDJ search functionality has always been a little quirky.

I am hopeful that this will be one of the enhancements in V8.
 
did you go to the little box just over the search bar right click on it and tell vdj what to search for from the list.
also make sure the right side of search bar..click on mag glass and select what you want to search ie music/video/karaoke.
 
The * between words works great!! Thank you! I find the way they have the search engines makes no sense and wish they could make it more like Traktor's or Serato's, this way will do for now though.
