Topic: Mapping Newbie.

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

So I have a BCD2000 and I'm doing some custom mapping to it. I'm running Virtual DJ 7 and I'm trying to figure out how to separate the different buttons on the different sides of my mixer to correspond with the individual sides of the decks on the screen. For example, how to make each level control each side. I've tried finding little things on how to help me to do this on the others but there's too many to weed through.

Thanks
Ty

you should register your serial so you can download the mapper from the plugins section. If you want to do it yourself though if the controller has not been correctly defined you can map.

deck left volume_slider
deck right volume_slider

If however it is defined properly, to test this if you select action learn and move the slider if it has the same button selected just map

volume_slider

AH! Perfect thank you. I really wish I could enter my serial but sadly I inherited the computer from my brother and he doesn't remember his serial and uses a different controller.

Thanks though!

In that case you are using the software illegally. VirtualDJ licenses are non-transferable and cannot be sold, given or transferred to another user. Doing so is a violation of the End User License Agreement: http://www.virtualdj.com/atomixproductions/disclaimer.html

You will also not have access to all the benefits that registered licensed users enjoy such as software upgrades and free add-ons such as effects, skins, etc. These benefits are only available to the original purchaser of the software.

If your brother is still using the software and has shared his licensed version with you, then he is also acting illegally and in violation of the EULA. VirtualDJ serial numbers cannot be shared. Please see: Can I share my serial number?

Please support the software and its future development by purchasing your own full license: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

The BCD2000 is natively supported in the latest version and doesn't need mapping. It's already defined so that the actions for each button will apply to the appropriate deck (If you change the mapping of a button, then the same will apply for the new action that you assign.)

Registered licensed users can download the latest v7.0.5b version for free from: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html

So it's illegal to use a program on a computer that somebody gave you?

Either way I'm heading to Best Buy to get the computer refurbed and I'll pick up a copy of VDJ while I'm at it.

And no my brother uses Traktor now. So he didn't transfer the licence.

Yes, it is illegal for somebody to give their VirtualDJ to you. Doing so is a violation of the End User License Agreement: http://www.virtualdj.com/atomixproductions/disclaimer.html - It doesn't matter whether they still use it or not.

If a user decides to sell, give away or dispose of their computer, they must remove VirtualDJ from it first (And any other licensed software they own that is non-transferable.)

VirtualDJ Pro can only be purchased on-line directly from our website: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html - If you find it for sale anywhere else, then it is probably a counterfeit or pirate version.

However, you should be able to find Numark Cue for sale in stores, which is a legitimate Numark-branded version of VirtualDJ Pro. You may also find VirtualDJ Home and/or Broadcaster available for sale in selected stores, but these are limited versions of the software (See comparison.)

Ahhhh okay I've uninstalled it. Sorry. Didn't know that was against policy.

They had some version at Best Buy for $40. What am I missing from pro in that version?
I didn't buy it right away. But I did get a free app from the apple Apps store. For all intensive purposes it seems to do the same things? What's the difference??

Thanks Ty.

It was probably VirtualDJ Broadcaster or VirtualDJ Home for sale in BestBuy.

You can see a comparison between the different versions on the following page: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html

Home FREE (The version in App Store) is free software for non-commercial home use only (You cannot use it at gigs where you are being paid.) It also only supports mouse/keyboard use only and has limited sound card options. Pro features such as MIDI controllers, timecode, advanced sound config can be tried out for 10 minutes at a time though. You also don't have any access to download add-ons with Home FREE.

Your best bet is to buy a controller that comes with an LE version that way you get a better discount on the PRO version.

Good luck
Huey

Just what beatbreaker1 said.. I bought the Hercules RMX and then just bought the pro edition that same night. Cause i've tried the LE version before and its sucks when your getting into the grove and it cuts you off cause it only gives you 10 minutes to mix and the software force's a shut down... Then you have to restart the program. Once you go pro you'll love it with the endless options to do from the free updates to down loading samples and effects, skins, mapping your controller to however your likings are. Plus the ability to mix video and karaoke if thats your fortay.....

practice and practice and enjoy...
