Topic: Shortcut for Track Ratings

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Is there a way to set a keyboard shortcut that could give a track a 5 star rating

For example....I could highlight a track and then hit the shortcut button that would allow me to tag that track as a 5 star track

I know i can go into the file info but figured it would be easier to set up a shortcut key

I Don't think this could be done, but you could make a script to open the A or B deck info while playing and do this easily..
Go into Keyboard mapper in config. and setup script for deck A, Key "F" Action "deck 1 file_info
Go into Keyboard mapper in config. and setup script for deck B, Key "G" Action "deck 2 file_info
Then just click the slider to the right for a five star rating while playing...

thanks Joey

I tried to do this, but It's my first time that I dive into the mapping area and I'm not sure if I did it right.
This is what I did:

KEYLEARN: f
ACTION LEARN: deck A file_info

Don't know what I did, but it isn't working :p

It should be either "deck 1 file_info" or "deck left file_info" instead "deck a" doesn't work...

None of them work, not deck left, not deck 1...
Do I have to restart VDJ to make this work, or do I need to press some sort of button?

recheck the spelling, it should work... and no you don't need to restart, mapping changes happen as soon as you type something

I checked the spelling, it's all good...
Now I see this under the action-learn box:

open a window to edit many informations about the loaded track.

so I think I did something right.
But when i go back to VDJ and press f while the song is playing nothing happens.

I use the Mix lab V3.1 skin, if that matters

skin isn't important, are you using the "quote" things? it won't work if they are there, it should just say

deck left file_info

paste that in and it should work

No quotes, it's just like I said...
And when I used deck a, it didn't say "open a window to edit many informations about the loaded track" under the text box, so I guess I did it right...

Ok, it worked :)

I used the small f and it should be the big F...

One more thing, you can only edit mp3's while thier playing. If you try to do this with an mp4 (video) it won't work, they can't be loaded on the deck.

Good Luck
Huey

Ok thank you for the tip, but i don't have mp4's in my database ;)
I'll stick to mp3 (for now)
