Is there a way to not show a video and just have audio play when you load a video?

I take it you are not connected up to any external screens then and are not bothered about having video monitors on screen, you could go to the skin section and choose a skin that is audio only.
Failing that, to hide video monitors > usually in the centre of the skin just hit the tab that says mixer, revert by hitting the video tab.

You could try a converter.

Depending on your settings you could:
Slide the crossfader to the opposite side of the video playing BUT you must have the AUDIO VIDEO AUDIO/VIDEO button above the crossfader selected to just VIDEO
or
Go to Config>Video just click Window in the drop down
or
Get free video convertor software like ANY VIDEO CONVERTOR and convert to MP3

here is a mapping for a button/key you could use based on Zamooda's post
deck left select ? video_crossfader 100% : deck right select ? video_crossfader 0%

If you're using the default skin, right clicking on the center video window will turn the video off and on.
