I know there are many posts regarding these two controllers but I wondered if anyone had done a direct comparison of these two?
Here in Cyprus it is very hard to find controlelrs to try out so I have to rely on you good people to point me in the right direction.
I am a club/bar DJ who plays only music (No video) may need a mic from time to time and I play two main nights 1. Deep, Tech Progressive & Tribal House and 2. Funk, Soul, Jazz & Reggae.
I used a Hercules Mk2 before moving up to a Hercules RMX 2 years ago and I want to make another step up. I need something relaible and hardwearing.
As I see it pros and cons are:
VMS4.1
Pros: Metal Chassis, plenty of control, XLR mic inputs, repalceable crossfader
Cons: bad reputation for customer service
N4:
Pros: Good reputation, plenty of control, Master & Booth outs
Cons: Plastic construction, non replaceable crossfader
DJ's here in Cyprus dont get paid all that much so money wise I could only stretch to €500 max.
If anyone has any experience of the sound quality of these two units I would greatly appreciate your input.

VMS 4.1 also has master/booth, can be used as a 4 audio mixer without a computer.
I have the vms4 and I totally love it although I'm saving up for the Vestax VCI400 witch I'll order very soon.
the Numark N4 has one thing that I absolutely love and thats the browser section with dedicated load button for all channels so you won't need to switch to the right deck to load a song.
they bout cost the same at Thomann.de so it's really a choice of what you like most. but if you can save up €200 more you could get the VCI400.
Personally I like better the layout on VMS
